CoppaFeel! x SouthWRK
CoppaFeel! was founded in 2009 by Kris Hallenga and her twin sister Maren, after Kris was diagnosed with incurable (stage 4 / secondary) breast cancer at the age of 23, and work to raise awareness of breast cancer. They want everyone to have the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer. Ideally, we want to live in a world where all breast cancers are diagnosed at the earliest stage possible, at which treatments are more effective, and survival rates are higher. CoppaFeel!’s work allows them to reach more young people across the UK and encourage them to get to know their bodies.

Can you share any tips for making internships successful for both the business and the intern?
This was our first internship and working with SouthWRK has been great. Mona was on hand all the time and so I’d definitely suggest making the most of the partnership with SouthWRK to gain the most information ahead of the internship starting. Having a team within the organisation who are just as excited about the opportunity for the intern is also important.
What would you say to other London-based businesses considering hiring a local student or graduate?
I definitely recommend this programme. It’s a great learning opportunity for your current employees to try out short term line management, or improve their mentoring skills. Interns also bring a fresh perspective, great ideas, and a passionate energy to their roles. It’s also so important to provide opportunities for people living in the areas that you operate within.
